Lab unit converter
Exact unit conversions within one quantity, Celsius and kelvin, and molar to mass units through the formula weight you supply.
Convert units
Converted quantity
- Result
- 0.0000011L
- 1.1 µL = 0.0000011 L
Exact decimal conversion within one quantity. Molar conversions use the molar mass you supply for the exact chemical form (salt, hydrate). Conversions that need a density (mass↔volume, percent↔molarity, molarity↔molality) are not offered.
Worked example
- 1.1 µL is exactly 0.0000011 L: a change of prefix moves the decimal point of the number as typed, so nothing is rounded.
- 37 °C is 310.15 K: Celsius and kelvin differ by the exact offset 273.15, kept apart from the scale prefixes, and nothing below 0 K is accepted.
- 10 mM of imatinib mesylate at 589.72 g/mol is 5.8972 mg/mL: molar and mass units convert only through the formula weight of the exact form you weigh.
- Mass to volume, percent to molarity, ppm, activity units, × strengths, OD600 to cells and RPM to g are refused with the reason, never guessed.
Method
- Unit conversion within one quantity, with molar bridges through a supplied formula weight. SI prefixes and the litre (BIPM SI Brochure, 9th edition, 2019, Tables 7 and 8); the dalton read as g/mol by the biochemical convention.Checked against exact rational arithmetic (Python 3.13.16 fractions) with factors from the BIPM SI Brochure, 9th edition, on 44 cases, 16 of them refusals: prefix changes exactly as decimal strings, molar bridges to nine significant figures (10 October 2026).
- Celsius and kelvin by the exact offset. t/°C = T/K − 273.15 (BIPM SI Brochure, 9th edition, 2019, §2.3.1).Checked against exact rational arithmetic (Python 3.13.16 fractions) on 5 conversions and 2 refusals below absolute zero, exactly as decimal strings (10 October 2026).
Limits
- For research and education only, and not medical advice: the stock, dilution and buffer calculations here are not for dosing or clinical preparation.
- The unit converter scales within one quantity and converts molar to mass units only through the formula weight you supply for the exact form; it offers no conversion that needs a density, and reads Da as g/mol.
